Bluestone Front Porches & Stoops: The Arrival

Veneering tired concrete, treads over brick, full stone landings — the entry upgrade, honestly priced.

No square footage on a property works harder than the entry: every guest, every delivery, every listing photo crosses it. And no upgrade transforms a tired concrete stoop like bluestone — which is why entry work is the highest-satisfaction project we quote.

The three entry plays

1. Veneer the existing stoop. Sound concrete porches don't need demolition — they need dressing: 1–1.5″ thermal bluestone mortared over the landing, matching treads over the steps, and snapped-stone veneer on the cheeks. The transformation-per-dollar champion. 2. Treads-and-risers rebuild. Where steps are failing, masonry cores rebuild and 2″ treads cap them — the full anatomy in the steps guide. 3. The full stone landing. New construction or full rebuilds set a complete bluestone landing — pattern-cut, generously sized (at least as deep as the door is wide, ideally 5x7+) — flowing into a matching walk: the complete arrival.

Getting the details right

Finish: thermal on walking surfaces — the entry is shoveled and salted all winter, and the winter guide's ice-melt rules apply here first. Pitch: a gentle wash away from the door — water and thresholds are enemies. Color: blue-select beside white trim and formal doors; full color beside brick and farmhouse fronts. Code: riser consistency and handrail rules apply to entries exactly as the steps guide details.

2026 entry budgets

$2,000–$4,500
Veneer a typical stoop + 3 steps
$3,500–$7,500
Rebuild steps + new treads + landing
$6,000–$12,000
Full landing + steps + connected walk
1 week
Typical entry project duration

Entries also stack beautifully with a walkway in one mobilization — the combined quote nearly always beats two separate ones. Photos of your current entry into the quote form get you both numbers fast.
